You will see them swim in an up and down circular motion sometimes as they feed on the plankton, and this is truly a magical experience you should try. Manta Rays come gliding in and start to do a dance below (or above if diving) your eyes. The light attracts plankton, which then attracts manta rays. This is one of the most well lit night dives and snorkeling sites in the world. There are lights shining down from the surfboards and many Scuba divers are on the bottom (20-25 feet below) shining lights up. You quickly kick over to a surfboard and you hold on and look down. You then pop on your fins/mask and hop in the water with an instructor. The boat leaves an hour or so before sunset, and you can see a beautiful Kona sunset as you head out to see the manta rays.
